Black Tiger Prawns are marine crustaceans, that are commonly farmed for food. They’re easily recognizable by the dark stripes on its shell. Both sexes can reach approximately 36cm long, and females can weigh up to 650g, making it the world's largest species of prawn. They are caught year round, with peak supplies from February through May. Of all shrimp, these are among the most widely distributed and marketed shrimp in the world.

Grilling, barbecuing or flambéing Tiger Prawns in their shell are among the most popular cooking methods, as are pan and deep-frying.
