Young's Seafood Limited
The ‘Flappers’ of the 1920’s danced on with a new appreciation of life, following the Great War. With manners, dress and habits, which shocked the older generation every bit as much as the ‘New Wave’ generation shock their elders in the 1980’s.

The economy of post-war Britain crumbled, unemployment rose to unheard of proportions, and the possibility of a socialist government was seriously considered for the first time in British history.

Against this background, William Joseph Young courageously, and with foresight, expanded his business.

During the 1920’s, Young’s was amongst the first to undertake sales of frozen Labrador salmon from Royal Mint Street. It was also the first year that saw imports of Canadian salmon pass the million pounds weight mark. By 1939, this figure had increased tenfold.
