Young's Seafood Limited
In the closing years of the 19th century, the picturesque fleet of Bawleys, belonging to William Joseph Young and his family at Leigh, were an everyday part of the river life in that part of Essex.

The main catch of the vessels was whitebait, a sought after and popular seafood, particularly amongst the gentry.

In 1890, Young’s moved from Greenwich to Royal Mint Street, London. William Young, a tall, full bearded man, was expanding the Young’s fish merchanting and wholesaling company to the catering trade in London.
Quality and service were dominant, with the stronger horses used for the North Piccadilly deliveries as they were uphill!

The last recorded banquet was held on August 15, 1894 at the historic Ship Hotel, Greenwich. All the legendary giants of the day were present.
